Dear blog Visitor,

You are reading my first contribution on this blog of my (new) website. It is a short introduction to my book titled The Resurection of the Harmoniemusik of The Abduction from the Seraglio. Extraordinary Adventures, published here for the first time.

In 1983 I made the Mozart discovery of the 20th Century, the believed to be lost Harmoniemusik of The Abduction from the Seraglio, a work of 62 Minutes for eight winds. The New York Times choose page one to make this find known to the world.

The scholarly complexity of the find is dealt with in a clear and for music lovers comprehensable manner. What happened in the surroundings since 1984 is presented with a finely tuned humor: how jealous collegues acted, how the Salzburg experts tried to steal the work, then in 1991 marked it as spurious, since 2002 denied its existence and finally in 2004 characterized me as a funny excentric. Also the experiences with the Bärenreiter Publishing Company and the Recording Industry and their representatives are described with a distant resignation.

An extraordinary tale of bribery, corruption and stupidity.
