Teaching and Lecturing

In the course of the years I always have been a keen educator, primarily in my
Professorships at the conservatories of Utrecht and Arnhem, where I coached chamber music groups and read ensemble techniques, orchestration and history of music. From 1991 to 2008 I have been on the faculty of the Instituut voor Dirigenten Educatie, that offers graduate instruction in conducting skills.

teaching_and_lecturingI was visiting professor in many schools of music, i.a. the Latvian National Music Academy (Riga, 1999), at the Royal College of Music (London, 1998) and the Curtis Institute (Philadelphia, 2007) and gave clinics at WASBE and CBDNA conferences (Luzern (2001), Minneapolis (2003), Singapore (2003) and Killarney (2007).

Being of dutch descent, but nevertheless very fluent in english and german at an academical level, I lectured at many occasions both at home and abroad, i.a.
Brandeis University (1988), the International Mozart Congress Salzburg (1991), Cornell University (1999) and many others.

Since 2006 I am also active as lecturer for ASSEMBLEE, the international speakers agency of Maastricht (www.assemblee.nl), for whom I gave lectures such as Mozart without notes, From archive to living sound and Complications of a lost Mozart work.
